Steph Sanchez is keeping track of all the prospects the San Francisco 49ers have spoken to or met with during the NFL Draft process in a Google doc, so you can do the same.

A few of the front seven players who are interviewing today have mentioned that they have met or had a formal interview with the Niners:

The positions and expected movements of the players are more important than the players themselves. Javon Hargrave and Arik Armstead are both under contract with the 49ers; the only other defensive tackle after them is Kalia Davis. Whether it’s through free agency or the NFL Draft, the Niners have no option but to bolster the position this offseason.

Smith was the top-ranked player in Louisana in the 2021 class coming out of high school and a former 5-star recruit. He was a freshman All-American with four sacks and a promising future. Smith was No. 17 on The Athletic’s Bruce Feldman’s “freaks list,” where he clocked as fast as 19.2 miles per hour.

However, he tore his ACL in the first quarter of the season’s opening game as a sophomore. Smith started to pick up his game this past year as he recovered more and more from his ACL injury. Though he didn’t perform as well as he could have when healthy, the 6-foot-6, 315-pound defensive tackle, who is 21 years old, still has talent. He only becomes better two years after an injury, so the hope would be that this is his best performance to date.

In the third round, Smith is expected to go. In the third round, the 49ers own the picks 94 and 98.
