(AP) — LEXINGTON, KY Top-ranked South Carolina defeated Kentucky 103-55 on Sunday to win its seventh straight Southeastern Conference regular-season title. Bree Hall scored 18 points, and MiLaysia Fulwiley added 17 points off the bench.
The Gamecocks, without 6-foot-7 star center Kamilla Cardoso for the second straight game, expanded their 20-point lead at the half to 74-43 after three quarters on 12-of-16 shooting that resulted in 64% shooting accuracy overall. Te-Hina Paopao missed her lone 3-point try prior to halftime but made all three of her other efforts, for a total of four makes in the quarter. For the Wildcats, Ajae Petty scored 16 points and Saniah Tyler scored 15.
Tennessee / Knoxville (AP) – With 26 points from Hailey Van Lith, a double-double from Angel Reese, who also scored more than 2,000 points in his career, and a late 16-2 run by No. 13 LSU, they defeated Tennessee 75-60. Van Lith, the highly sought-after offseason addition via the transfer site, scored 12 points in the fourth quarter. Halfway through the fourth quarter, she made it 59-55 with a jump shot and then extended the margin to seven points with a 3-pointer.
Flau’jae Johnson finished the run with five points, and she added another basket. Reese, the star transfer from Maryland the previous season, finished with 11 points and 16 rebounds, including four in the game-winning run. 1,287 of her 2,006 career points came from LSU. With 16 points, Rickea Jackson had 1,009 for the Lady Vols, and pulled down nine rebounds in her career.
