The truth is that they are the two best teams in college football. Georgia Bulldogs supporters will tell you it’s a rivalry, while Alabama supporters will term it biassed.
Together, the two teams have a combined record of 99-10 and have won three of the last four national titles.
In one regular season matchup (2020), two SEC championships (2021 and 2023), and a national title (2021), four of the 10 losses have occurred against each other.
Following back-to-back national titles and a 29-game winning streak in 2023, the Dawgs appeared to be headed for a three-peat until the Crimson Tide upset them in the SEC Championship.
It would be the last encounter between Nick Saban and his prodigy Kirby Smart, as we were unaware at the time. With an 8-2 record against Georgia and a 5-1 record against Smart, Saban was victorious.
But many Georgia fans, like Georgia beat writer Mike Griffith, don’t think the Tide will pose much of a danger in Kalen Deboer’s first season as coach going into 2024.
Griffith states, “Kirby doesn’t think too much about Alabama, and Georgia doesn’t think too much,” during an interview on the Paul Finebaum Show.
The main headache is actually the game against Texas on October 19.
They believe that will most likely be the game that determines the SEC for the following season. At the top of the SEC, Texas and Georgia are frequently mentioned.
From there, you go to the second tier, which includes Alabama, Tennessee, LSU, Ole Miss, and Missouri.
