Overview: Cleveland and NFL Coach of the Year Kevin Stefanski had the offence running smoothly enough to exploit the No. 2 defence by DVOA, despite a QB turnover rate.

Due in large part to a late-season surge spearheaded by quarterback Joe Flacco—a midseason addition—the club was able to secure a postseason berth and an outstanding season.

Before settling into a groove under quarterback Joe Flacco, the offence primarily faltered under starter Deshaun Watson and fill-ins Dorian Thompson-Robinson and P.J. Walker.

However, in a crushing wild-card playoff defeat to the Houston Texans, the club lacked the firepower to hang with them.

Cleveland is in an interesting position right now since the team has a legitimate shot at winning the Super Bowl if Watson can just start playing up to his deal. Despite losing in the opening round of the playoffs, the Browns will have an opportunity to retool the offence and return a highly talented defence.

Who’s in and who’s out: With their current cap space scenario, the Browns will find it difficult to re-sign effective players like Za’Darius Smith, particularly with numerous defensive linemen about to reach free agency.

Hurst is also on that list. Although they don’t have many important players available, it will be interesting to watch what happens with Smith and Joe Flacco.

After his impressive late-season showing, would Cleveland be open to re-signing the 39-year-old backup quarterback?
