Bo Nix, a former Auburn legacy quarterback, is currently a favorite to win the Heisman Trophy at Oregon. This is the worst thing that could have ever occurred to the Auburn football program following Bryan Harsin’s first season on the Plains.

Despite Auburn’s impressive start to the season—5-4 through nine games and a two-game winning streak—Nix is focusing all of the emphasis on the players who aren’t wearing Tigers uniforms.

Who knows? Perhaps AU will have gotten rid of Harsin sooner if Nix stays. Perhaps removing Harsin would have forced him to stay. We can never be certain.

However, Oregon has profited greatly from obtaining Nix through the transfer gateway. Perhaps to the extent that a Pac-12 title, a College Football Playoff berth, and perhaps even a successful trip to New York for Nix to attend the Heisman Trophy Ceremony are all possible.

Expert: Former Auburn quarterback Bo Nix is a “heavy favorite” to win the Heisman Trophy.
Close observers of Nix’s Ducks have Zachary Neel of Ducks Wire ranking the Pinson native as a “heavy” favorite to win the Heisman Trophy.

“It’s obvious that Bo is one of the heavy favorites to win the award after a 6 TD performance against California on Saturday, one in which he completed 76% of his passes and had just under 400 yards passing,” Neel began, before adding, “Some betting sites even have him as the outright favorite heading into Week 11.”

A player hasn’t won the honor for Auburn in more than ten years, and during that time, Nix started three seasons as quarterback one year prior to, during, and following the COVID-19 pandemic. The reason Nix wasn’t considered for the Auburn Heisman Trophy may have been greatly influenced by that circumstance.

However, as life goes on, some QB program configurations are effective. Nix was unhappy at Auburn, but he is now a winner and maybe an award winner in Eugene.
