Arkansas guard Armando Bacot was carried out of the local hospital in the Bahamas on Friday following a major injury he sustained late in the team’s game against North Carolina.
In the Battle 4 Atlantis third-place game, 1:12 remained when Mark was hurt. After an off-balance layup, he fell to the floor and remained there for a few minutes before being taken off the field on a stretcher.
During his press conference following the game, Arkansas coach Eric Musselman mentioned that Mark was getting checked out for a back injury. Mark was released from the hospital later on Friday after the school announced that an MRI had revealed no serious damage to his back. The school announced that he will leave for his return to Arkansas early on Saturday.
No. 20 Arkansas fell at No. 14 North Carolina 87-72 despite Mark’s 34 points. He joined RJ Davis (30) of the Tar Heels, Eric Dixon (34) of Villanova, and David Jones (36) of Memphis as the only players with 30 points or more in the tournament.
In an NCAA tournament game against Auburn in the second round in 2023, Mark, a transfer from Houston, shot 13 of 17 from the field, 4 of 6 from beyond the arc, and 4 of 7 from the free throw line to surpass his previous career high of 26 points.
