Before the half, Hinson’s 27 points scored tied the Cardinals’ team total before the break. Hinson shot 9 for 14, including 5 for 8 from 3-point range, as Pitt led 37-27 at the half. At the break, the Cardinals’ shooting percentage was 9 for 21.

Hinson scored a career-high 29 points when he entered. With nine 3-pointers, he matched his career high and shot 14 out of 24 in the game.

Twelve points short of 1,000 points for his Pitt career at the beginning of the contest. In 27 years, he is the first Panther to score more than 30 points. Don Hennon’s school record of 45 points from the 1957–58 season was four points higher than his total from Saturday.

His 41 points on Saturday moved him into a tie for sixth place in the standings for the single-highest scoring game effort this season with Jahmir Brickus (LaSalle), Wade Taylor IV (Texas A&M), and Sherif Gross-Bullock (Bryant). Tommy Bruner of Denver scored 49 points against South Dakota on January 25, which was the greatest single-game performance in the country this year.

With 8:26 remaining before halftime, Hinson went on a 7-0 run to put Pitt (17-8, 8-6 ACC) ahead for the duration, although trailing 18-17. Ishmael Leggett, the backup, and Jaland Lowe both had scores of ten.

For Louisville (8-18, 3-12 ACC), Kaleb Glenn scored 17 points, Tre White scored 16, Mike James scored 13, and Brandon Huntley-Hatfield scored 12.
