Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts Responds, “Isn’t Running,” To Recent Critiques
QB Jalen Hurts of the Philadelphia Eagles isn’t avoiding answering inquiries about his management style.

NFL Network’s Mike Garofolo was the most recent to report that the Philadelphia Eagles would like their normally stoic quarterback, Jalen Hurts, to become a little more vocal, especially in times of trouble. This has become something of a theme for the team early in the summer.

Garofolo stated, “There’s a non-X and O element at play here,” in reference to the starting quarterback for the Eagles on Super Bowl Sunday. And that is because Hurts is typically silent and uncommunicative. The Eagles desire that he take on a more proactive and assertive role as a leader.

Part of that feeling stems from the Eagles’ possible loss of franchise leaders and cornerstones like Fletcher Cox and Jason Kelce, both of whom are thinking about retiring.

“Fletcher Cox and Jason Kelce may be retiring,” said Garofolo.

The good news is that Hurts has not crumbled in the face of difficulty and has remained receptive to helpful critique.

Hurts shed his tightly guarded exterior in a more relaxed setting when the quarterback took part in the Pro Bowl games in Orlando earlier this month. The Eagles are counting on Hurts to fill a portion of the leadership void left by the departure of the so-called “core four” of Kelce, Cox, Lane Johnson, and Brandon Graham.
