LOUISVILLE, KY: Another Louisville men’s basketball player will be sidelined for an extended period of time because of an injury. Skyy Clark, a sophomore guard, revealed on X, previously Twitter, that he broke a rib during the Cardinals’ prior game this past Saturday against Los Angeles. Despite suffering a serious injury in the second half against the Yellow Jackets, Clark continued to play. Although the duration of his absence is unknown, he stated on social media that he would “be back soon.”
Clark wrote on X, “Broke rib… no sweat… no complaints!!!” “I still completed it for my guys. Though it hurt so much, I was unable to breathe and will return soon, #cardnation.” UofL has already lost three players to injury this season; Clark’s injury is just the most recent in a long run of serious illnesses the Cardinals have faced this year. Hercy Miller required surgery for a persistent hip issue, J.J. Traynor reinjured his shoulder, and Dennis Evans was not medically allowed to compete.
With the exception of the game against Florida State on February 3 due to a hip injury, the 6-foot-3, 205-pound point guard has participated in 23 of Louisville’s 24 games thus far, starting 22 of them. He also came off the bench in last Wednesday’s game against Syracuse. In terms of points (13.1), assists (2.9), and steals (1.0) per game, Clark is ranked second on the team.
The product of Los Angeles, California, spent his true freshman year at Illinois before joining Louisville in the offseason. After the Illini’s first 13 games of the season, the former five-star prospect averaged 7.0 points, 3.7 assists, and 2.1 assists per game. He later announced that he would be leaving the team for “personal reasons.” This Tuesday, Louisville will return to action when they play Boston College. The Eagles game will tip off at 9:00 p.m. EST.
