The 2024 NFL Draft is being used by the Las Vegas Raiders to choose players for their roster.
With a strong draft class from the previous year, the Raiders now have the chance to add additional youthful talent with the hopes of contending for a postseason spot in 2024.
The Raiders intend to assemble a championship-winning team for the Silver and Black under head coach Antonio Pierce and general manager Tom Telesco. The hope of Raider Nation is that they will return with a Lombardi Trophy.Chris Braswell, an Alabama defensive end, is one guy who could assist them in reaching that level. Along that Crimson Tide defensive line, Braswell—a 2023 Second-Team All-SEC selection—formed an elite tandem with fellow draft prospect Dallas Turner.
With four forced fumbles, 10.5 sacks, 15.5 tackles for loss, and 75 total tackles at the end of his collegiate career, Braswell was quite the player. He enhanced his draft stock and had a strong week in the Senior Bowl in Mobile, Alabama.
Braswell appears to be a talent who could play 4-3 defensive end or 3-4 outside linebacker on film. He is a skilled mover who flies at the quarterback after a solid snap. His inclusion in writer Bruce Feldman’s “Freaks List,” which features some of the most athletic college football players, attests to his exceptional athleticism. In addition to his appearance, Braswell is a worker. Every time he snaps, he plays through the whistle and tries to make a play, giving it his all. At 6 feet 3 inches tall and 257 pounds, he appears his finest while charging off the edge in a two-point stance.
With eight sacks, Braswell placed fifth in the SEC in 2023. Pro Football Focus reports that he produced 56 total pressures. Even when he is not getting to the quarterback, he can still be a successful pass rusher by using his quickness and explosiveness.
Braswell is an athlete who never backs down, but his arm length is lacking, thus he might find it difficult to consistently complete tackles at the next level. Though he plays with intensity, his size might pose a threat to NFL offensive lineman in the next level.
Braswell is anticipated to be selected in the second or third round. The tools are there, even though he is still a work in progress. He is comparable to Malcolm Koonce, the current Raider, and his 2021 comeout.
On day two, Braswell would be a terrific fit for the Raiders if they want to develop another tool-loving, diligent defensive end.
The NFL Draft is scheduled for April 25–27, 2024, in Detroit, Michigan. The No. 13 overall pick is presently in the hands of the Las Vegas Raiders.
