Michigan completed the early signing period on Wednesday, signing 27 prospects from the 2024 recruiting class.
This cycle, the highly sought-after class included athletes from sixteen states, with Ohio having the most number of signees (four), followed by Michigan, Maryland, North Carolina, and Pennsylvania (three).
The Maize and Blue have already gotten a jump start on the next cycle and presently have three commits in place: defensive lineman Bobby Kanka, quarterback Carter Smith, and cornerback Chris Ewald. However, the most of their recruiting efforts in the 2024 class are essentially over.
Despite only having a few verbal pledges in the 2025 recruiting class, The Michigan Insider takes an early look at all the prospects the Wolverines lead for thus far in the 247Sports Crystal Ball. They begin by evaluating Michigan’s choice of Martindale and assigning ratings to the hire.
The conversation revolves around Martindale’s advantages as a highly skilled schematic coach and his ability to maintain consistency for a Michigan defense that has prospered under the guidance of two of his mentees in the past three seasons. In addition,
they consider the unanswered questions surrounding the hiring, such as Martindale’s possible weakness in recruitment, their concerns about his ability to teach less experienced, younger players, and their concerns about his ability to manage a successful demotion by playing college football again.
