The Georgia Bulldogs lost their first two consecutive road games against the Mississippi State Bulldogs on Wednesday, falling short 62-75. Georgia’s record after this game is 14-9 overall and 4-6 in the SEC. Mississippi State, meanwhile, improves to 15-8 and 4-6 in the conference.

Josh Hubbard, a freshman guard, made a pair of free throws in the second minute to give Mississippi State the early advantage. With 18:01 remaining, UGA responded with a 3-pointer from Noah Thomasson. Before Mississippi State went on a 6-0 run to take an 8-3 lead against UGA with 14:44 remaining in the first half, neither team would score for more than a minute.

Georgia would not score until senior guard Jabri Abdur-Rahim made a basket.It took Mississippi State over two minutes to add to the score after the half (a basket by senior big Tolu Smith with 18:07 remaining).

Using four successful free throws and a jumper from senior Justin Hill, Georgia scored six straight points to tie the score at 34–38 with 17:09 remaining in the game. For the next seven minutes, the Bulldogs swapped baskets until Mississippi State gained momentum and extended their lead to 13 (56-43) with 9:29 remaining.
