Tuesday night, Toby Keith’s favourite Oklahoma Sooners men’s basketball team honoured him in the best manner possible—with some heartfelt courtside tributes and a decisive victory.
Just before the game against No. 21-ranked BYU, the favourite team of the country music icon put out a guitar, a red solo cup, and an OU ball cap in memory of the musician following his passing.
The team honoured Keith with a moment of silence inside the Lloyd Noble Centre in Norman, Oklahoma, before going on to provide one of their greatest games of the year.
After defeating the Cougars 82–66, the Sooners continued to pay tribute to Keith during the postgame.
Naturally, Keith would have cherished it all. Throughout his life, he was observed cheering on the Sooners and attending nearly all of the school’s major sporting events.
