The Raiders have now made the two toughest decisions they faced this offseason.

The Raiders named Tom Telesco general manager and appointed Antonio Pierce as head coach. Moving forward, the Raiders will need to decide on another important aspect of their organisation.

If defensive coordinator Patrick Graham decides to stay with the Raiders, their next big opening will be offensive coordinator. The offence has struggled in the past two seasons.

The Raiders’ offence, which was expected to be a strength this season, turned out to be their biggest weakness.

This season, Las Vegas has frequently suffered from the Raiders’ inability to move the ball and score consistently, which has cost them numerous games. In certain games, Las Vegas’ defence either tied or outscored the offence in terms of points scored.

Following McDaniels’ firing by the Raiders, Bo Hardegree was elevated to the position of offensive coordinator in interim. With rookie Aidan O’Connell starting at quarterback, the offence saw some improvement under Hardegree, but the Silver and Black unquestionably need another offensive playcaller.

The Raiders will make that decision soon, as many names have been connected to the opening. The Raiders need to make sure they select the best offensive coordinator now that the defence is largely established.

This season demonstrated that if the offence is nonexistent, defence improvements are meaningless. To go along with an improving defence, Pierce and the Raiders should have a capable offence and offensive coordinator.
