The NBA Slam Dunk Contest this year might have some celebrity influence.

According to Shams Charania of The Athletic and Stadium, Boston Celtics player Jaylen Brown “is seriously considering” taking part in the event:

“Brown has been mulling over the possibility for several weeks and appears to be very much in play,” Charania stated.

This year’s match will take place on February 17 at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis as part of the All-Star Saturday Night.

The Skills Challenge, a three-point competition, and a special three-point competition involving Golden State Warriors star Stephen Curry and New York Liberty star Sabrina Ionescu will also be held on the evening of festivities.

The absence of star power in the Slam Dunk Contest has been criticised in recent years.

Players likec, Kobe Bryant, Vince Carter, Tracy McGrady, Julius Erving, Dominique Wilkins, Clyde Drexler, Dwight Howard, Blake Gryphon, and Donovan Mitchell have all participated in what was once considered the main event of All-Star Weekend.

However, there haven’t been many well-known competitors in recent years; the previous five winners were Mac McClung, Obi Toppin, Anfernee Simons, Derrick Jones Jr., and Hamidou Diallo. Not that their performances aren’t worth seeing, especially considering how well McClung performed the year before, but those names don’t quite compare to some of the previous competitors and victors.

In addition to being a member of one of the premier teams in the league, he is a three-time All-Star and was chosen for the All-NBA Second Team in the previous campaign. He is skilled at several things on the floor, one of which is flying to the hoop for dunks.

And he might show that off in the Slam Dunk Competition.
