Hunt has been on the Browns’ injury report for much of the season but has played through injury, according to Fowler, who added that the condition “could sideline players for at least six to eight weeks and require immediate surgery.” .

Hunt signed with the Browns two weeks into the 2023 season after Nick Chubb suffered a knee injury on September 18 against the Pittsburgh Steelers.

From then on he played in all 15 regular season games, rushing for 411 yards and nine touchdowns on 135 carries (3.0 YPC).

The seven-year veteran also added 15 receptions for 84 yards.

Hunt also scored both touchdowns for the Browns in a 45-14 loss to the Houston Texans in the AFC Wild Card round.

The soon-to-be free agent played five of his seven seasons in Cleveland after spending his first two years in Kansas City.

During his career, Hunt totaled 6,326 yards and 57 scores.

The surgery was to repair a torn adductor muscle that has apparently plagued him for most of the 2023 season. Hunt, 28, will become a free agent in March and has indicated he would like to return to Cleveland, where he grew up.

During the season, he played 15 games with two starters, then re-signed after starter Nick Chubb went down in Week 2 with a season-ending knee injury.

He rushed 135 times for 411 yards with nine touchdowns and also caught 15 passes for 84 yards.

He added two touchdowns–one rushing and one receiving–in the Browns’ 45-14 loss to the Houston Texans in the AFC wild-card game.

In 91 career games (38 starts) with the Kansas City Chiefs (2017-18) and Browns, Hunt gained 6,326 yards from scrimmage with 57 scores. Hunt earned his only Pro Bowl selection in his rookie season when he led the NFL with 1,327 yards. –Field-level average
