A number of important members of the Philadelphia 76ers’ starting lineup are injured, and there are no set return dates.
As the Sixers’ next week draws near, starting guard De’Anthony Melton recently disclosed that he may consider a return game.
The 76ers make their first trip back home on Saturday night after playing five games away from home. Melton will stay off the court once more while he continues to heal from a lumbar spine ailment.
Although the veteran may not be able to play for the Sixers this week, he just disclosed that he may play in his first game back on Monday at home against the Dallas Mavericks.
Melton earlier this week told Keith Pompey of The Philadelphia Inquirer, “Hopefully, I will probably play in the Monday game.”
Melton recently completed two exercises and reported feeling physically “good” after brushing off some rust. Melton will need some time to recover fully, but if everything goes according to plan, he should be back as early as next week.
Melton last made an appearance for the Sixers on the court on January 12 against the Sacramento Kings. The seasoned player took a quarter of an hour to check in and shot only 22% of his field goals. Melton was playing in his first game back after missing three games at the time.
