The two hardest choices the Raiders had to make this offseason are now behind them.

Antonio Pierce was appointed head coach by the Raiders, who also appointed Tom Telesco general manager. The Raiders now have to make a decision regarding another crucial aspect of their organisation going forward.

The Raiders’ offensive coordinator position will be their next major opening after their offence struggled in the previous two seasons, assuming defensive coordinator Patrick Graham stays with the team.

At their skill positions, Las Vegas’ offence was among the best in the league coming into the 2018 campaign. Even so, one of the highest-paid offences in the NFL was doomed by erratic quarterback play, injuries, and dubious play-calling.

Josh McDaniels was fired by the Raiders for a number of reasons, but many things might have gone differently if his offence had produced more.

The Raiders’ offence, which was expected to be a strength this season, turned out to be their biggest weakness.

This season, Las Vegas has frequently suffered from the Raiders’ inability to move the ball and score consistently, which has cost them numerous games. In certain games, Las Vegas’ defence either tied or outscored the offence in terms of points scored.

Following McDaniels’ firing by the Raiders, Bo Hardegree was elevated to the position of offensive coordinator in interim. With rookie Aidan O’Connell starting at quarterback, the offence saw some improvement under Hardegree, but the Silver and Black unquestionably need another offensive playcaller.

The Raiders will make that decision soon, as many names have been connected to the opening. The Raiders need to make sure they select the best offensive coordinator now that the defence is largely established.

This season demonstrated that if the offence is nonexistent, defence improvements are meaningless. To go along with an improving defence, Pierce and the Raiders should have a capable offence and offensive coordinator.

The NFL Scouting Combine will take place at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis, Indiana, from February 27 to March 4, 2024.

The NFL Draft is scheduled for April 25–27, 2024, in Detroit, Michigan. The No. 13 overall pick is presently in the hands of the Las Vegas Raiders.
