February 1 – Jimmy Butler scored 31 points on Wednesday night as the Miami Heat, who were hosting the game, defeated the Sacramento Kings 115-106 to end a seven-game losing run.
Miami had 42 baskets and 38 assists. A season-high 24 points were scored by Josh Richardson, 16 of which came in the first half.
It was Butler’s third game in a row with 20 or more points.
Keegan Murray scored a game-high 33 points to lead the Kings.
The Heat have not lost as many games in a row since Miami lost 15 in a row in December 2007 and January 2008. Erik Spoelstra of Miami also had the longest losing run in his coaching career during this period.
Domantas Sabonis of Sacramento recorded a triple-double with 19 points, 17 rebounds, and 13 assists, which were game-highs. It was also his 42nd double-double of the season, the most in the NBA, and his 29th consecutive. Oscar Robertson holds the franchise record with 31 consecutive double-doubles, having accomplished it twice in the 1960s.
De’Aaron Fox of the Kings, who came into the game averaging 27.5 points, was limited to just 13. He only converted 4 of his 16 attempts from the field, including 1 of his 8 3-point attempts.
Bam Adebayo of the Heat scored 16 points, surpassing Chris Bosh to take fifth position on the team’s all-time scoring chart. LeBron James, Glen Rice, Alonzo Mourning, and Dwyane Wade occupy the top four slots.
Heat wing Duncan Robinson was not able to play due to a concussion.
Miami led 28–22 after Butler scored nine points in the first quarter.
As Sabonis missed his first two free throw attempts and his first four shots in the first half, Miami increased their lead to 18 points in the second quarter. With five minutes remaining in the half, he scored his first points on a fast-break layup.
