Joe Burrow “tweaked” his calf injury during the Cincinnati Bengals’ 27-24 loss to the Baltimore Ravens on Sunday; the Bengals have started 0-2 for the second consecutive NFL season; Burrow also promises to get wide receiver Ja’Marr Chase more involved with the offence.

Burrow, who missed most of the preseason with the issue, completed 27-41 for 222 yards and two touchdowns, after passing for only 82 in last weekend’s season-opening defeat to Cleveland.

“We’re going to have to wait and see,” Burrow said afterward.

“I’m not sure how I’ll feel in the next few days. It’s pretty sore right now, but there’s no telling how it will heal, so I suppose we’ll take it day by day.

“We’ll give it a couple of nights, a couple of sleeps, and then see where we go from there.

“Whenever you have these types of things, they are always ongoing and something you have to manage. I’m not sure how I’ll feel over the next few days; we’ll have to see.”

When asked if he expected to have to manage the injury throughout the season, Burrow replied, “I’m not sure. It’s difficult to predict, to see into the future and see that.

“I’m doing everything I can to get healthy and get that thing the way I need it to so I can go out and perform the way I need to, to win, we’ll see.”

The Bengals rallied from a 0-2 start last season to win the AFC North with a 12-4 record, and Burrow believes the team is capable of making a similar turnaround.

The 26-year-old has identified getting off to a faster start as a critical aspect in allowing the team’s offence to thrive.

“When your quarterback is absent from camp, it is difficult to get off to a quick start. “It’s not an ideal situation,” Burrow stated.
