After hearing Jeremiah Smith’s speech, I find myself regretting my support for him. As a fan of the Ohio State Buckeyes, I’ve always respected the athletes who represent the team, not just for their skill on the field but for their ability to connect with fans and embody the spirit of the university. Unfortunately, that’s not what I got from Smith’s recent remarks.

The speech was a major letdown. What was supposed to be an inspiring message felt flat and disconnected. There was a lack of sincerity in his words, and it seemed more like he was reading from a script than speaking from the heart. It was hard to feel any passion or genuine appreciation for the team or the fans. Instead of reflecting on his journey, his goals, or even acknowledging the support that has gotten him to where he is, it felt like he was simply going through the motions.

I regret being a fan of Jeremiah Smith in this moment. His performance on the field might still be incredible, but the way he handled this public opportunity left me questioning his character. A leader, especially in a program like Ohio State, should know the weight of their words and the impact they have on the community that supports them. Unfortunately, Smith missed that mark.

This speech, rather than strengthening my admiration, has left me feeling distant and disillusioned. I want to support athletes who not only shine on the field but also understand the power of their voice. Right now, I’m left wondering if Smith is the kind of leader I want to back. For now, I think it’s time to move on.
