The season of the Philadelphia Eagles has ended for a few days now. Perhaps it would just be best if we avoided discussing it. A season that started at 10-1 and finished with an 11-6 record is hardly worth discussing.
With all the attention diverted on what figures to be a bustling offseason for Philly, it’s worth taking a short look at some probable evacuees. Here are four players that, in most situations, can be considered highly unlikely to return to the club in 2024.
DeAndre Swift, a defender
This
winter, D’Andre Swift will be available as a free agent. A year to hit the pool, huh? In terms of yards (1049), first downs (50), and rushing yards per game (65.6), he recorded career highs. In addition, he had twice as many broken tackles (18) as he had in any previous season.
After making contact, Swift produced a career-high 1.7 yards. Running behind the Eagles’ offensive line results in that.
Philly got a great deal on him. He made a career-high 16 appearances in Philly’s regular season at the age of 24, despite only earning $1.7 million (0.8% of the cap). When we use the word “steal,” we mean precisely that.
It doesn’t seem like Philadelphia will be the location where Swift receives payment, even if she has more than earned it.
