Fox is making your next murder mystery TV show obsession. The network is developing a series called Murder in a Small Town, which is set to premiere during the 2024-25 season.
The show, based on a series of mystery novels by late Canadian author L.R. Wright, is set on the coast of British Columbia, which is also where the show will be shot. Fox is producing the series with Canada’s Sepia Films, marking the network’s first co-production with an international studio.
International co-productions are cheaper to produce, and American studios have been increasingly relying on them now that Hollywood has entered an era of cost-cutting. But that doesn’t necessarily mean A Murder in a Small Town will feel cheap; it has a cast full of recognizable actors and Fox veterans behind the camera. Fox drama executive Michael Thorn describes it as “a wonderful, great aspirational series which will feel very specific to our audience, with the promise of a signature Fox character in Karl Alberg.”
Here’s what we know about Murder in a Small Town so far, including its release date timeframe and more.
In the tradition of dramas about lovers who solve mysteries together, the series follows a world-weary detective and an enigmatic librarian as they investigate murders in their seemingly perfect community.
