Australian cyclist Grace Brown claimed the Olympic title, while Britain’s Anna Henderson and American Chloe Dygert took silver and bronze, respectively, on the 32.4km course. Brown outperformed her rivals, finishing with a time of 39:38.24, giving her a lead of 1:31.59 over Henderson.
Kopecky, the reigning world road champion, will also participate in the road race on 4 August and two track cycling events, the American race on 9 August and the omnium on 11 August.
Three years ago at the Tokyo Olympics, Kopecky competed in the women’s road race and achieved fourth place, behind Austrian Anna Kiesenhofer, Dutch cyclist Annemiek van Vleuten, and Italian Elisa Longo Borghini.
On the track, Kopecky took tenth place in the American race and withdrew from the omnium.
