Percy Tau has been with Al Ahly for three seasons and his current deal with the Egyptian giants expires in June 2025.

However, reports have emerged that the 30-year-old is a wanted man with a few clubs being said to have contacted Al Ahly about securing his services.

Citing Arabic sports site Kooora, KickOff reports that Chiefs made a bid for Tau and were told that their offer was “of weak financial compensation.”

An unnamed Saudi Pro League side is said to have also approached Al Ahly after teams like Al Kholood and Al Wehda had already tabled offers that were rejected for the same reason.

KingFut has also reported about Chiefs’ interest, saying the Cairo giants are willing to sell Tau and attacking midfielder Mohamed Magdy Afsha but will hold out for the ‘right price’.

What could make Al Ahly ready to part ways with Tau is how the player has struggled with injury and form this season.

He has managed 11 domestic games for Al Ahly and from four of those matches, he scored six goals.

But he enjoyed more playing minutes in continental competitions, making 20 appearances but only finding the back of the net twice.

There have also been rumours that Tau and coach Marcel Koller don’t see eye-to-eye.

Al Ahly are yet to conclude their 2023/24 Egyptian Premier League campaign and are left with nine games to catch top of the table Pyramids who they are five points behind, with three games in hand.

Tau recently made a goal-scoring return from injury and will be hoping to pick up form and convince the Cairo giants to hand him a new deal instead of selling him.
