Carlos Alcaraz destroyed Novak Djokovic to retain his Wimbledon title – and stop the Serbian superstar winning a record 25th Grand Slam singles title on Centre Court on Sunday.

The Spaniard saw off the seven-time champion in a five-set epic last year when he saved a point to go two sets down. But this time Alcaraz beat the greatest male player of all time 6-2 6-2 7-6 in only two hours and 27 minutes

Djokovic had to save three Championship points at 5-4 to force the tiebreak and prevent an even quicker defeat. In front of the Princess of Wales, Charlotte and sporting and Hollywood royalty, Alcaraz is King of Wimbledon again.

And his brilliant smile lit up Centre Court on a sunny Sunday and one that is a big sporting day for Spain ahead of the Euro 2024 final.

The 21-year-old became the youngest man to complete the Surface Slam – winning Majors on hardcourts, grass and clay – at the French Open last month.

And he now becomes only the sixth man in the Open era to complete the Channel Slam of Roland Garros and Wimbledon in the same year after Rod Laver, Bjorn Borg, Radfa Nadal, Roger Federer and Djokovic. He is now 4-0 in Grand Slam finals and can win many, many more.
