LAS VEGAS — The Brooklyn Nets defeated the Indiana Pacers 97-95 on Friday in the 2024 NBA Summer League at Thomas & Mack Center in Las Vegas.
The Pacers set the tone of the game early and quickly established their terms following a 21-17 score during the opening 10 minutes. A 20-16 score in the second quarter increased their lead to eight points, but the Nets wouldn’t go down without a fight. Brooklyn won the third quarter by a 27-20 score and reduced the deficit to just one point, meaning the game was up for grabs in the final 10 minutes.
The Pacers seemed ready to run away with the victory, but a late comeback from the Nets added some excitement and tied the game with only a few seconds left. Since Quenton Jackson missed two clutch free throws in the final seconds, overtime was needed to find a winner. The new overtime rules meant the target score was 96 points, and the Nets reached it first to claim the win.
Jalen Wilson led the way for the Nets with 25 points and seven rebounds. Keon Johnson had 16 points, six assists, five rebounds, three blocks and two steals. Noah Clowney posted 14 points and four blocks. Jaylen Martin chipped in with 12 points off the bench.
Jarace Walker, a 2023 lottery pick, had 25 points for the Pacers, and he also added six rebounds and four assists. Former Kentucky standout Oscar Tshiebwe had a solid 17-point, 19-rebound double-double. Kendall Brown added 19 points coming off the bench. Rookie Johnny Furphy posted 12 points.
