Kaizer Chiefs believe their presence in Turkey will strengthen the club’s brand as well as its relationship with the European country.

Chiefs are currently on a pre-season tour of Turkey where they will play a number of matches with local teams as they gear up for the 2024-25 season under new coach Nasreddine Nabi.

While they are in Europe, back home the club continues its charm offensive with their hosts, with Chiefs Marketing and Commercial Director, Jessica Motaung, paying a visit to the Embassy of Turkey in Pretoria on Tuesday.

“We’re thrilled to be in Turkiye, a country renowned for its passion for football and rich sporting heritage,” said Motaung after meeting the Turkish Ambassador to South Africa Aysegul Kandas.

“Our presence underscores our commitment to global partnerships and exchanging best practices in football. We appreciate the warm hospitality our team has received and look forward to fruitful collaborations beyond this pre-season camp.”

Amakhosi have a rich history with Turkey with legendary players such as Donald ‘Ace’ Khuse, John ‘Shoes’ Moshoeu, Fani Madida, Steve Komphela, Pollen Ndlanya, and recently Siphiwe Tshabalala, having played in the country.

Turkish coach Muhsin Ertugral also handled the Glamour Boys on two separate occasions, first from 1999-2003, and 2007-2009.
