World champions Noah Lyles and Karsten Warholm are among the track and field stars set to compete at the ninth stop of the Diamond League series on 12 July at the Herculis EBS Monaco.
Also expected in Monaco are Great Britain’s Dina Asher-Smith and Ivorian Marie-Josée Ta Lou-Smith in the women’s 100m taking place at the Stade Louis II.The women’s pole vault will feature joint world gold medallists Katie Moon and Nina Kennedy.
The Monaco Diamond League will take place on Friday, 12 July, at the Stade Louis II.
The main programme of the Meeting de Paris begins at 19:00 local time with the women’s javelin and concludes with the women’s 100m dash.
Six-time world champion Lyles will be back on track after his brilliant sprint double at the US Olympic Trials. He warmed up for the Paris Olympics by winning the 200m in 19.53 seconds at Hayward Field, which was faster than Michael Johnson’s 29-year-old trials record of 19.66.
In Monaco, he will line up in the half-lap race against Letsile Tebogo, racing for the first time in the Diamond League Series this year. Tebogo, the silver medallist from Botswana finished behind Lyles in the 100m final last year in Budapest and has only raced twice over 200m this year.
Tebogo’s last race was the 100m on 6 July at a meeting in the Italian town of Brescia. The other fast men on the field are Ivorian Cheickna Traore (19.93) and American Courtney Lindsey, whose season-best 19.71 equals Tebogo’s from their close race at the Kipchoge Keino Classic in Nairobi.
