Toulon rugby player and member of the French XV, Melvyn Jaminet, has been excluded from the national team following a video in which he made racist remarks.
RC Toulon international full-back Melvyn Jaminet has been dropped from the France squad currently on tour in South America, following racist remarks in a video published on Sunday, which he said he was “ashamed of”.
“My mother asks me if I partied. I swear to you, the first Arab I meet on the road, I’ll hit him with my helmet,” says the player, visibly annoyed, who films himself in this short undated video, posted on Instagram and since deleted.

In a press release, the French Rugby Federation (FFR) “condemns in the strongest possible terms the comments made by Melvyn Jaminet” which are “totally unacceptable and contrary to the fundamental values ​​of our sport”.

The player “has been sidelined with immediate effect and is leaving the France squad currently present in Argentina,” added the FFR, stressing that an “internal investigation” was underway to “take appropriate measures.”

Jaminet came on in the second half of the first match of the French XV tour against Argentina, won 28-13 on Saturday in Mendoza.

RC Toulon “condemns the remarks made and dissociates itself from them”, reacted for its part on X the club, also announcing the opening of an “internal investigation”.
