New York’s ORCHARD PARK (AP) — Coach Sean McDermott of the Buffalo Bills announced on Friday that wide receiver Gabe Davis and reserve safety Taylor Rapp would not be available for Sunday’s playoff game against Pittsburgh.
With seven touchdown catches and 746 receiving yards, Davis was second on the team. However, on Sunday, during Buffalo’s 21-14 victory over Miami that ended the season and secured the AFC East, Davis suffered a knee injury.
Despite suffering a calf injury, Rapp produced what may have been the greatest play of the game, intercepting Tua Tagovailo to thwart the Dolphins’ last drive.
In Davis’ absence, Trent Sherfield, Khalil Shakir, and Dalton Kincaid are quarterback Josh Allen’s target options. Sherfield replaced Davis and caught a deflected pass for Buffalo’s opening touchdown.
Prior to the squad having to submit their final injury report, McDermott made his remarks. Starting LB Tyrel Dodson (shoulder) and CB Rasul Douglas (knee) are possibilities that McDermott would not rule out. Against Miami, both also suffered injuries. Dodson completed a walkthrough on Wednesday but did not practice on Thursday, while Douglas has not practiced this week.
