KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WATE) — Two of the most decorated players in Tennessee men’s basketball history have signed their first professional contracts ahead of NBA Summer League competition.
Josiah-Jordan James has signed with the Indiana Pacers while Santiago Vescovi agreed to terms with the Golden State Warriors.
Both players will suit up at the NBA Summer League in Las Vegas from July 12-22. Vescovi will also play in the California Classic, an exhibition event featuring six NBA and the Chinese national team, the week prior to the start of Summer League play.
The two could face off against each other as well as their Tennessee teammate Dalton Knecht, who was drafted 17th overall by the Los Angeles Lakers.
James is one of two players in Tennessee history to record 1,250 points, 800 rebounds, 250 assists, 150 steals and 100 blocks. He ranks third all-time in school history in career wins and minutes.
Vescovi joined the great Allan Houston as the only Volunteers with 1,000 points, 500 rebounds and 400 assists. The Uruguay native leaves Rocky Top as the program’s all-time leader in steals and starts. Only Houston played more minutes for Tennessee and Vescovi’s 325 made three-pointers are the eighth most in SEC history.
