Miguel Timm has been a key player for Orlando Pirates since joining from Marumo Gallants at the beginning of the 2022/23 season.
When fully fit, the 32-year-old has always commanded a place in Jose Riveiro’s starting team. With his initial two-year deal set to expire on June 31, Bucs have made their decision.
“Orlando Pirates Football Club can confirm that Miguel Timm has signed a new deal,” the Soweto giants confirmed on Thursday.
“The 32-year-old midfielder’s current contract was due to expire at the end of the month, but he has now put pen to paper to extend his stay at the club, keeping him on board at the Bucs ship for the 2024/25 campaign, including an option for an additional season.”
Timm has thus far played 63 competitive matches for the Sea Robbers and won four Cups in the process.
The Buccaneers have so far released six players – Fortune Makaringe, Thabang Monare, Kermit Erasmus, Siyabonga Mpontshane, Richard Ofori, and Souaibou Marou.
By retaining Timm, Riveiro has underlined the midfielder’s importance ahead of a busy 2024/25 campaign.
Bucs are expected to unveil new players in the next couple of days, most probably before their Spain tour where they will be playing three friendly matches.
The Soweto giants have been tipped to push Mamelodi Sundowns for the Premier Soccer League title in the forthcoming campaign.
