Tributes have poured in for the late Kaizer Chiefs defender Siphiwe Mkhonza, who passed away on Tuesday morning.
Mkhonza’s family ‘confirmed’ that the former Chiefs legend turned analyst was suffering from a kidney infection.
The 44-year-old was admitted at Charlotte Maxeke a month ago and was released after showing signs of recovery, iDiski Times reported.
Unfortunately, he succumbed to his illness after being discharged from the hospital.
Mkhonza began his professional career with Bloemfontein Celtic before moving to Ria Stars in the early 2000s.
He made a name for himself when he joined Kaizer Chiefs in 2004, winning several titles with the Soweto Giants.
