Nasreddine Nabi is set to become Kaizer Chiefs coach soon.

The AS FAR Rabat coach and the Soweto giants have reportedly reached an agreement after it fell through last year.

Kaizer Chiefs‘ defensive area has continued to look solid for the future. Edmilson Dove has just reportedly put pen to paper on a new deal.

The 29-year-old initialy made his name in the Western Cape in the colours of Cape Town City in 2018. The left-sided defender bizarrely left the Citizens before restarting his career in Mozambique with UD Songo. Kaizer Chiefs later offered a deal a two-year deal in 2022. The agreement included a one-year extension option until 30 June 2024. According to FARPost, Amakhosi have decided to exercise the extension option.

“Kaizer Chiefs have activated a one-year contract extension for Edmilson Dove, ending speculation about his future,” FARPost reported.

As reported this week, the 29-year-old Amakhosi defender Dove chose his national duties over a crucial pre-season period with the new assistant coach Fernando Da Cruz. The left-defender simply said one does not turn down the honour of representing his nation in the 2024 COSAFA Cup that is currently taking place in Gqeberha.

“Obviously, I feel like, as football players, this is probably the highest stages of our careers, being here and representing our nation,” said Dove via SABC Sport.

“It’s not only about myself, but obviously the coach spoke to me, and he told me his ideas and what he was looking for from me, and obviously, I’m more than willing to be here to help.

“Obviously the club situation is a bit tricky, but I think that’s something I’ll give thought to when I go back and rejoin the team,” he added.

“You know, every time I’m called upon to represent the national team, we should be willing to say yes and come here and give our all,” Dove added.

“We’re representing more than 30 million Mozambicans, it’s not only about ourselves anymore, as I said. It’s a pride to be here and represent the nation.

“So I’m just one player out of all those the coaches could have selected, that would come here and add value, and I’m hoping we can do well,” the Kaizer Chiefs lefty concluded.

Meanwhile, the Glamour Boys told Dove to report for pre-season at Naturena before Wednesday’s 1-1 draw between Bafana Bafana and the Os Mambas.

“Mozambican international left-back Edmilson Dove is a last-minute casualty for the COSAFA Cup, which kicks off today and runs until 7 July in Port Elizabeth, South Africa,” the FA said in a statement sahred by SABC Sport.

“Edmilson was supposed to play against South Africa tonight, but was not authorised by his club, Kaizer Chiefs. In response to the FMF’s letter/request, sent on 19 June, the club only responded yesterday, 25 June, at 15:50,” the note concluded.

The former Cape Town City star is a crucial member of the Amakhosi squad as the only senior player that can play in left-central defense as as left-back. Thatayaone Dithlokwe, also a left-footed central defender, has no experience of playing as a number three.
