Earlier today, news broke that the Leigh Leopards have had a major obstacle removed in their hunt to sign David Armstrong from the NRL. Cam Scott’s move from Hull FC to Wakefield Trinity has also been confirmed as he will move to Humberside for the 2025 season.

Outside backs are particularly in demand, with several Super League sides on the look out for new wingers. St Helens will lose Tommy Makinson to the Catalans Dragons and the Dragons will lose both Tom Davies and Tom Johnstone to Hull KR and Wakefield respectively

However, it now appears that one Super League target will remain in the NRL for the 2025 season, with the Sydney Roosters set to offer him a new contract.

Australian and Tongan International, Daniel Tupou, has been a prolific try-scorer throughout his career in the NRL. He has 152 tries in 254 appearances across a career which has seen him lift three NRL Premierships and a World Club Challenge trophy.

Tupou was linked with a move to the Catalans side earlier in the year, alongside Leeds winger, Ash Handley, and New Zealand Warriors winger, Dallin-Watene Zalazniak, who are looking to add strike to an attack which has stuttered at times this season.

However, according to a report in the Daily Telegraph in Australia, Tupou will not be pulling on the blood and gold of the Catalans side next year. Instead, he looks set to sign a contract extension to remain in Sydney. Quoted in the Daily Telegraph, Tupou said:

“I’m still in the middle of it getting sorted, so I’ll leave it with my manager and hopefully it’s sorted soon,” he said.
