NFL.com’s Dan Parr had a fun article where he gave one player on each NFL team to root for in the 2024 season. There are some teams where finding one player might be hard, there are some teams were weeding all the one good dude out from a team of good dudes is difficult as well.

The San Francisco 49ers are part of the latter camp. A testament to the drafting and player evaluations of John Lynch, Kyle Shanahan, and the rest of the front office. There hasn’t been near the character issues we saw while the 49ers were under Trent Baalke’s watch.

If you are shocked by freakish injuries dismantling the 49ers at the worst possible moments, there’s a chance you haven’t been a fan of the team for very long.

Greenlaw is a perfect guy to put into this discussion. He’s a good dude on a team of good dudes. That makes his Achilles injury all the more gut-wrenching. I really hope my last fond memory of Greenlaw isn’t the game-sealing interception in the NFC Divisional against the Green Bay Packers.

But as a fan, if we had to pick one player off the 49ers, who would you take? I am rooting HARD for Greenlaw, no question. That said, maybe I’m completely wrong, but I’m still rooting for Brock Purdy. I feel like while he is starting to get a bit of respect, people still move goal posts on him. Especially those whispers he’s the reason the 49ers lost the Super Bowl (um, no) simply because the 49ers don’t have a “better quarterback.” Whatever. I just want to keep rooting for Brock Purdy simpy because I want all the haters to be proven wrong.
