The latest items in the University of Louisiana at Lafayette’s retro-themed line of gear and non-apparel feature a tip of the cap to the nationally ranked Louisiana Ragin’ Cajuns baseball and softball teams.
UL Lafayette’s officially licensed Vintage Louisiana Collection features merchandise stamped with iconic monikers, logos and images that include SLI, USL, and several incarnations of the historic bulldog mascot.
The depictions, which are known as marks, grace a selection of Vintage Louisiana gear and merchandise that includes jerseys, T-shirts, caps and non-apparel items.
The newest branded marks? Distinctive lettering that once graced uniforms worn by the University’s storied baseball and softball teams – two variations of the word ‘Cajuns’ – in script.
Items with the vintage monikers will be sold at retail outlets and online beginning Friday, April 26, just in time for the home stretch of stellar season’s for the Louisiana Ragin’ Cajuns’ baseball and softball seasons.
“Vintage Louisiana is a hit with alums and fans because the line offers a connection to past glories and memories, and traces the evolution of our iconic Louisiana Ragin’ Cajuns brand,” said Leslie Saloom, the University’s associate director of Trademark Licensing.
“Our vintage baseball and softball marks are designed to inspire the same sense of Ragin’ Cajuns spirit and pride. And, beyond nostalgia and a nod to what’s been accomplished, drum up excitement about what’s to come,” she added.
That includes plenty of action on the diamond. The baseball team’s regular season ends May 18; the Sun Belt Conference Championships are May 21-26. The Louisiana Ragin’ Cajuns softball team’s regular season ends May 4; the SBC Championships are May 8-11.
