In her first race since the 2023 World Championships in Budapest, sprint legend Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce began her final Olympic dance at the JAAA Olympic French Foray in Kingston, Jamaica by winning the women’s 100m event.
The 37-year-old having won a bronze medal in the Hungarian capital, announced earlier in the season that the Paris Games, will be her last outing as a professional track athlete.
With much anticipation since then on when she’ll be making her season’s debut, Fraser-Pryce finally put all doubts to rest when she lined up on the track to the excitement of fans around the world.
She recovered from a poor start smoothly and stormed to the finish line in a respectable 11.15s (0.8m/s) as Jodeen Williams finished second in 11.20s and Sabrina Dockery was third in 11.46s.
