Kaizer Chiefs have finally got their man Nasreddine Nabi’s appointment over the line, according to trusted North African sources!
After weeks of rumours about Nabi’s future, it can now be confirmed he is leaving AS FAR for Chiefs.
Two weeks ago, this publication reported that Chiefs were moving quickly and with intent, with regards with regards this appointment. It was said that, the club sent a delegation of senior officials to Rabat, in an effort to convince Nabi to leave AS FAR for Amakhosi. The Tunisian tactician then made two requests: ‘Show me your long-term plan and allow me to bring my own coaching staff’.
Early in the next week, it then looked like Chiefs had managed to convince Nabi to sign for them. This after the publication reported they had reached an agreement for a compensation fee with AS FAR. That has since been confirmed by the Arabic version of French broadcaster BeIN SPORTS that the coach will be leaving his current club for the Glamour Boys at the end of the current season.
“Tunisian Nasr Al-Din Al-Nabi leaves the Royal Moroccan Army Club at the end of the season after agreeing with the South African team, Kaizer Chiefs.” Wrote the broadcaster on their official xaccount.
This is a significant step forward as it confirms that, Chiefs had first agreed terms with Nabi, before AS FAR. They then went to then negotiations table with the Moroccan side knowing they had the leverage of an agreement already. It’s said he will leave his current employers after their Throne Cup semifinal against Maghreb Fez on 23 June.
With all of the issues looming at Chiefs, at the moment, Nabi could be expected to start immediately! Whether that would be the wise thing to do for both him and the club remains to be seen. Amakhosi fans, are you excited to welcome Nabi?
