Fired the wrong person; the Red Bull Management Shock Announcement should have been directed towards Max Verstappen.

The gap between the 2024 constructors’ champions and their closest competitors, Ferrari, has shrunk to 24 points as a result of their poor results in Monaco, Miami, and Imola.

Verstappen has also appeared vulnerable in recent weeks, even though he still leads the drivers’ championship. This is because he lost to Lando Norris and Charles Leclerc before being passed by the McLaren driver again at the Emilia-Romagna Grand Prix.

Given that teammate Perez keeps putting up inconsistent performances, both during qualifying and during races, McLaren and Ferrari might sense an unanticipated chance to end Red Bull’s hegemony.

Former Minardi driver Christijan Albers asserted that Perez “lacks the speed” necessary to be a reliable backup, which seriously jeopardises Red Bull’s title hopes.

“This is exactly what we’ve always talked about – if Red Bull is not competitive, then you simply have a problem with such a team-mate,” he said in an interview with the De Telegraaf podcast.

“He simply lacks the pace, and all of a sudden, it appears as though he has vanished.” Then, you actually have an issue.

“At P1, one driver qualifies, and at P11, another.” That is simply too much; it’s not just a little bit.
