he Indiana Fever might not be thinking about their 2025 WNBA Draft pick, but they should already be looking at the UConn Huskies’ Paige Bueckers to forge a dynamic identical to the Dallas Mavericks’ Luka Doncic and Kyrie Irving.

The stars of the Texan organization have just fired them to their first NBA Finals since 2011 with a victory over the Minnesota Timberwolves in which the Slovenian posted a mind-boggling 36 points with 20 of them on the board by the end of the first quarter, setting up a showdown with the Boston Celtics.

Meanwhile, Clark recently shot her first 30-point game as a professional basketballer, but her Fever outfit are struggling for form with eight losses in nine games (.111) as they bid to avoid being last in the Eastern Conference.

So, it’s clear that Clark and Aliyah Boston could use some extra help, which can be found in the college scene through the Huskies’ Bueckers, who chose to stay an extra year instead of being drafted as she looks to find form after a long absence via injury.

Bueckers was the AP Player of the Year, Naismith College Player of the Year and USBWA National Player of the Year in 2021 as she set the record for assists by a freshman as the Huskies made the Final Four, showing just how talented she is.

She could be a very useful asset by serving as a back-up playmaker on the court to Clark, whilst also taking over her duties when the ex-Iowa Hawkeye heads to the bench for some rest and tactical coaching. This is the same way that Irving backs up Doncic for the Mavericks.

But she had to sit out most of her sophomore year (2022) with surgery on her right ankle, before fracturing her shin and surgery for a previous meniscus ligament tear, which continued into her red shirt year when she also tore her ACL too, before returning in 2023/24 to help lead them to the Final Four again.

Importantly, that suggests that her injuries haven’t taken too much of a toll on her body and that she’s finding the ability to bounce back, making her a good pick fo v r 2025 if the Fever turn out to be interested in her.
