In the opening exchanges, Chiefs had opportunities through Siyethemba Sithebe and Mduduzi Mdantsane, but their efforts were thwarted. As the first-half continued, Cape Town Spurs goalkeeper Neil Boshoff was alert, making a crucial save to deny Christian Saile’s shot.

However, Cavin Johnson’s men regretted their missed chances as Ashley Cupido scored past Bruce Bvuma, giving the Cape Town side the lead after 37 minutes. Ernst Middendorp’s team managed to hold on to their 1-0 advantage heading into the half-time break.

At the start of the second-half, Johnson made three substitutions, bringing on Yusuf Maart, Wandile Duba and Mfundo Vilakazi in an attempt to turn things around.

Spurs dominated the midfield, winning crucial battles, although Chiefs did manage to create some scoring opportunities up front. The Urban Warriors suffered a setback after 64 minutes when the in-form Asanele Velebayi had to be substituted due to injury.

The situation worsened for Chiefs as Michael Morton doubled the lead after 73 minutes. At the final whistle, Amakhosi were unable to stage a comeback and ultimately lost 2-0, concluding the PSL season in 10th position on the league standings, marking a disappointing campaign. Meanwhile, CT Spurs will return to the National First Division after finishing at the bottom of the table. In the 64 minutes that he played, Asanele Velebayi was a force in attack, causing significant trouble for Chiefs’ defence on the left flank. His performance was outstanding and he deserves recognition for his impact in the game
