Carlos Alcaraz, the rising star in tennis, missed out on the 2024 Italian Open due to an arm injury. The 20-year-old Spaniard had to withdraw from Rome after experiencing discomfort in his arm, which was later diagnosed as muscle edema in his pronator teres. This setback came after his performance in Madrid, where he felt some pain and discomfort.
Alcaraz shared his condition and decision on social media. “I felt some pain after playing in Madrid, some discomfort in my arm. Today I did some tests and I have a muscle edema in my pronator teres, a consequence of my recent injury,” Alcaraz wrote on X. “Unfortunately, I will not be able to play in Rome. I need to rest so I can recover and play 100% pain free. I am very sorry, I will see you next year @InteBNLdItalia.”
Despite this disappointment, there is a glimmer of hope regarding his participation in the upcoming French Open. Alcaraz’s coach, Juan Carlos Ferrero, has provided a positive update on his recovery process. Ferrero shared a video of Alcaraz training, captioned, “These days @carlitosalcarazz is working hard on trying to recover in order to be ready for the upcoming tournaments! Vamos Carlitos, tú puedes.”
