Celtic have won the league for the third-straight time and will be looking to complete a double when they take on the Rangers in the final of the Scottish Cup later this month. No matter how that match plays out, one would expect the Hoops to strengthen their squad in the summer transfer window following that.
Celtic might have finished the season strongly but there is still a lot of room for improvement. The performances and results since the return of Brendan Rodgers have not always been great.
One area they could be looking to improve in in the summer transfer window is centre-back. Liam Scales has emerged as a starter there this season while Cameron Carter-Vickers has had his fair share of injury problems although he did manage to remain fit in the final months of the campaign.
Still, the belief is that they can improve there. And as reported by Football Insider, Celtic hope that the allure of Champions League football will be enough to win the race to sign Jake Clarke-Salter. Clubs in England are interested in the QPR defender as well though and the Hoops will find it difficult to match the wages on offer in the Premier League and at the top end of the Championship.
Clarke-Salter came through the youth ranks at Chelsea. At one point of time, he was one of the most highly-rated youngsters in all of football.
