Arsenal news as the Gunners prepare to take on Everton at the Emirates Stadium in a bid to push Manchester City all the way in the Premier League title race
Mikel Arteta will name his final Arsenal squad of the season on Sunday as his team look to pull off the unlikely. The Gunners head into the last day of the Premier League campaign knowing that nothing but a win will be enough to keep up their hopes of lifting the trophy.
Manchester City host West Ham as they seek a fourth title in a row having beaten Tottenham on Tuesday. It leaves Pep Guardiola’s side on the verge of history.
For Arsenal they have pushed the current champions all the way, even further than they managed last term, but it may still prove not to be enough. However, progress has been made once more for Arteta and his men.
The head coach is in a strong position to finish well regardless of the overall outcome. Arsenal could make it six league wins in a row and 15 in their last 17, only drawing to City and losing to Aston Villa in 2024.
Ahead of the final game he is still blessed by incredible availability. Only Bukayo Saka is a doubt for the game, and even then there is hope that he will be deemed fit enough to start.
The 22-year-old was taken off late on last week against Manchester United after being on the receiving end of a tackle from Sofyan Amrabat that saw him collide with the advertising boards. football.londonunderstands that Saka is expected to feature in north London on Sunday though.
Outside of Saka it could be a fully-fit side to pick from. Jurrien Timber is in contention to make the squad for just the second time this season but is yet to return from his injury on the opening day of the season.
If he was to be selected then it would mean a regular player missing out. Emile Smith Rowe and Eddie Nketiah could make their last appearances for the club ahead of possible summer sales, so they are expected to make the group.
Fabio Vieira could make way if Timber is picked. Other than that it is business as usual for Arteta and Arsenal. Here, football.london has predicted what the 20-man squad for the clash with Everton will be.
