How are Ohio State fans feeling heading into the 2024 college football season? I asked and you answered with your thoughts on a variety of topics, from your confidence in Ryan Day to 2024 season predictions and even the hiring of Jake Diebler.
One of the most talked about topics in college athletics right now is NIL, and Ohio State is at the forefront of that conversation. The Buckeyes’ strong offseason has come on the back of an NIL push from everybody in and around the program. I wrote about how the Buckeyes reached this point a few weeks ago, but NIL can be a divisive topic among fans, so I also asked for your opinions on the topic.
It seems like many of you feel good about how Ohio State has picked it up in that aspect, and some of you even donate to NIL collectives, like Brandon Z., who donated to The 1870 Society and said, “I’m pleased with their efforts, they have stepped up.”
There are many, though, who are on board with NIL but haven’t donated to a collective yet. One of them is Bill R., who said, “It seems Ohio State is doing a great job in NIL. Convince guys to stay that could have left for the NFL and get the best transfers you can while still building your roster mostly through traditional high school recruiting seems to be a winning strategy. I have not donated to any NIL collectives (I’m still paying my own student loans!).”
The college football landscape will continue to change, but Ohio State has caught up when it comes to NIL, and it’s helped this year’s roster. It will need to be flexible going forward as we await whatever comes next, especially with revenue sharing potentially around the corner.
