CINCINNATIStar Cincinnati Bengals defensive end Trey Hendrickson has reported to offseason workouts and is speaking for the first time after publicly making a trade request last month.

Tuesday, Hendrickson spoke to local media for the first time since his trade request went public.

A three-time Pro Bowler since joining the Bengals in 2021, Hendrickson was reported to be seeking longer term security than what the Bengals had previously offered.

“It means a lot whenever somebody that talented has your back. Obviously, he’s at the top of his game and I strive to be at the top of mine, year in and year out. Very similar, like-minded, hard working players,” Hendrickson said when asked how it felt to have franchise quarterback Joe Burrow publicly backing him up.

Speaking for the first time this offseason last week, Burrow spoke of trade requests made by both Hendrickson and franchise-tagged wide receiver Tee Higgins.

“Those guys have their business that they need to take care of,” Burrow said. “I support them in every way. Both of those guys have earned everything that’s come to them and more. I’ll support them all the way through it. Whatever they feel like is best for their career, that’s for them and their families and their agents to decide.
