Checo Perez and the record he ‘snatches’ from Michael Schumacher in Formula 1

The Mexican climbed up a step in the all-time points table

Despite a number of criticisms during his time at Red Bull, Sergio Perez has accumulated enough points to move into eighth place all-time.

After the six points from the Sprint plus the 15 he scored in the Chinese GP race, Checo reached 1,571 points in his 14-year Formula 1 career, putting him ahead of Michael Schumacher, who finished with 1,566.

The Mexican now trails Nico Rosberg, who leads him in seventh place by 23.5 points.

Schumacher experienced a points-less F1 era

While Schumacher’s seven world titles are in the recent memory of Formula 1 fans, his era did not see as many points being handed out.

According to Planet F1, if the German driver who shone with Ferrari had raced under the current points system, the seven-time champion would have scored 4,660 points in his on-track career, behind only all-time leader Lewis Hamilton.
