The picks are now in from the Kentucky basketball staff for the 150th running of the Kentucky Derby. The new Kentucky staff has their first Kentucky Derby on their hands, and they are ready for the action. They released their picks on Saturday morning before the big race begins tonight at Churchill Downs in Louisville. with Sierra Leone to win the Kentucky Derby, with 5-1 odds. Mark Fox followed that up with Forever Young, who has the next best odds at 6-1. Alvin Brooks rode with the favorite, picking Fierceness, with 3-1 odds of winning. Jason Hart made his pick of Catching Freedom, who has odds of 8-1 to win. Cody Fueger went with Just a Touch, who has the lowest odds of the 5 picks to win at 11-1.

 

Mark Pope stuck with second favorite, goingThe 150th Kentucky Derby is set for 6:57 p.m. ET and can be watched on NBC. Who’s pick will come out on top? Mark Pope’s horse, Sierra Leone, won the Bluegrass Stakes at Keeneland, and is trained by Chad Brown. Alvin Brooks’ pick is the betting favorite and trained by Todd Pletcher. Mark Fox’s pick of Forever Young is a Japanese horse trained by Yoshito Yahagi. Jason Hart’s pick, Catching Freedom, is trained by Brad Cox, while Cody Fuegers pick of Just a Touch is trained by Brad Cox as well.
